A store for twenty products with delivery in one city is a different project from a marketplace with stock across three warehouses. Both are “an e-commerce website”. This guide uses our own published prices to show what each kind of store costs, and why.

The short answer

These are Tekora’s prices from October 2026. A starting price is the floor for a focused scope; your proposal gives the fixed price for yours.

  • Standard online store: ₦850k to ₦1.5m
  • Advanced store: ₦1.5m to ₦4m and above
  • Marketplaces and highly customised commerce: ₦4m and above
  • Maintenance and support after launch: from ₦100,000 a month

What each level usually means

  • Standard: a focused catalogue, cart and checkout with online payment, order management and delivery set up for how you ship
  • Advanced: larger catalogues, custom design and journeys, customer accounts, stock by size or colour, and integrations with delivery, accounting or marketing tools
  • Complex: multi-vendor marketplaces, several locations or warehouses, trade pricing and custom commerce logic, delivered in releases

What moves the price

  • Number and complexity of products, including sizes, colours and other variants
  • Design: a well-set-up established platform, or a custom storefront
  • Payment and delivery integrations, such as Paystack, Flutterwave and your courier
  • Stock and order management, especially across several locations
  • Custom features such as subscriptions, made-to-order products or trade pricing
  • Automation and marketing setup, from order notifications to the Meta Pixel
  • Migrating products, customers and order history from an existing store

Established platform or custom store?

When your needs are standard and you want to launch quickly, an established platform is often the right choice, set up and designed properly and connected to your payments and delivery. A custom store makes sense when speed, a distinctive experience or your own business rules matter more. There is also a middle way: a custom storefront on top of commerce tools that handle the parts that don’t need reinventing. We recommend the simplest option that won’t limit you in two years.

How long it takes

Stores on established platforms can launch in four to eight weeks. Custom stores and marketplaces take longer and are planned in releases, so you can start selling before everything is built.

What usually isn’t in the price

  • Payment gateway fees, charged by your payment provider on each transaction
  • Hosting and domain registration
  • Platform or app subscriptions, if you use an established platform
  • Delivery costs charged by your courier
  • Email, SMS and WhatsApp messaging costs
  • VAT, where it applies

What you should get for your money

  • Delivery cost and timing shown before payment, not after
  • Guest checkout, with only the fields you need
  • Every payment verified with the provider before an order is marked paid, never on a screenshot
  • Failed payments handled, with the cart kept so the customer can try again
  • A way to add products, change prices and manage orders without a developer
  • A store tested on real phones and slow networks, including failed payments
  • Ownership of the store, its data and its accounts

Do you need a store yet?

Not always. If you sell a handful of products to people who know you, a WhatsApp Business catalogue may be enough for now. We compare the two in selling on Instagram and WhatsApp vs your own online store.
